The 3 Diamond Student Excellence Award are decided in similar manner as other awards.

To maintain the integrity of the awards and the voting process, it is important for you to know the details of the process.

Your vote is an integral part of that process.

Who is eligible?  Only Students who are members of the 3 Diamonds are eligible for the 3 Diamonds Academy Award.  Membership must be obtained prior to November 30 of the qualifying period.  Members, who are eligible for awards, please read qualifying page, names and details must have be submitted or listed on the 3Diamonds.me website prior to December 31 of the qualifying period, and work and grades must be within the qualifying period information.

Who votes?  There are three sections of the voting process: The Academy Board of Honorees, the Academy Members, and the general public.  The Academy Board of Honorees consists of past recipients of the 3 Diamonds Academy and the Board Members of the Diamond In A Rock Foundation.  Each individual member of the Academy Board of Honorees gets one vote.  Their voting counts as 50% of the voting totals and is styled after the AP Writer's Poll with each nominee being ranked 1 through 5.  Members of the Academy of 3 Diamonds also vote and their vote counts 35% toward the total.  You can join the Academy as a Voting Member here. The public vote is a single count 'pick one' style of voting.  Each year, the public vote accounts for a number of votes that represents a figure nearest 15% of the total vote.

Why should I vote?  While it is true that 50% of the votes come from the peers of the nominees, it is important to remember that pleasing the fans is still a big part of this business for 3 Diamond Student.  Performers must maintain a high level of quality in their work but must also garner support from their friends and family on a continual basis.  The public vote, therefore, plays a major part in the outcome of the voting process.

Why are there so many nominees?  As mentioned before, all qualifying Students are invited to join 3 Diamonds Academy, not all have done so at this time.  The Academy seeks to inform the public that Student Excellence crosses all grades lines.  If you know an student or parent who meet student Excellence standard, please encourage them to join.

How accurate and secure is the voting?  Your vote is collected by automated event handling software.  The results are made available only to the administrators of the event.  If you have any trouble voting, please email your choices to info@3diamonds.me  Each vote is collected and printed for safekeeping.  At the end of the process, an independent accounting firm may be given the ballots for verification.  The results are kept secret until the day of the awards show.
